Comparison
Every plan is the full product. No upgrade required to use it properly.
Most CRMs sell you a starter plan, then gate the features you actually need behind a pricier tier. The Bell doesn't. Same full feature set on every plan, priced by seat, no upsell path required.
TL;DR
Feature gating is when a CRM's cheapest plan is missing something core, like full email sync, and charges you a second time to get it. It's common enough that most buyers assume it's normal. The Bell doesn't do it: every plan, from one seat to ten, includes the same product. What you pay for is seats, not access.
The pattern, named
Here's a test worth running on any CRM you're evaluating: open the pricing page, and look at what's missing from the cheapest plan, not what's included in it.
Pipedrive is a useful, concrete example, not because it's unusual, but because this is how most tiered CRM pricing works. Its entry tier, Lite, at $14 per seat per month, does not include full email sync, arguably the single most basic thing a CRM needs to do. Get that back, along with lead scoring, e-signatures, and Pipedrive's AI email tools, and you're on Premium, at $59 per seat per month, more than four times the entry price. (Pricing as published on pipedrive.com, checked September 2026.)
That's not a criticism of Pipedrive specifically. It's how the category prices itself. The cheap plan exists to get you in the door. The plan that actually does the job is the one three tiers up.
Why this happens
Feature gating isn't an accident, it's a deliberate pricing lever. Vendors use it to segment the market: land small, low-willingness-to-pay customers on a cheap plan, then create pressure to upgrade once the missing feature becomes a blocker. It works because most buyers don't map out which features they'll need before they've been using the product for a few months, by which point switching costs more than upgrading.
For a solo seller or a two-to-five-person team, this shows up as a specific kind of bad surprise: you signed up for the cheap plan because that's what fit the budget, and three months in you discover the thing you actually needed, full email tracking, better reporting, e-signatures, was never available at that price. The upgrade isn't optional at that point. It's the plan you were always going to need, sold to you a second time.
What the Bell does instead
The Bell has three pricing tiers, Solo, Small Team, and Growing Team, and the only thing that changes between them is the per-seat price as your team grows (€180, €144, and €120 per seat per year respectively, billed annually). Every tier includes the same product: full email sync and automation, Smart Input, unlimited contacts and deals, forms and public pages. There's no feature to unlock by paying more. What you pay for is seats.
This isn't a claim that per-seat pricing itself is wrong, plenty of legitimate CRMs price that way, the Bell included. The claim is narrower and more checkable: the plan you start on is the same product as the plan you'd grow into. Nothing you're using today gets taken away, and nothing you'll need next quarter is being deliberately withheld.
Who this matters most for
This matters most if you're evaluating a CRM on a starter budget and don't yet know exactly which features you'll lean on in six months, which describes most solo sellers and small teams buying their first real CRM. It matters less if you're a larger team that already knows it needs the top tier of whatever tool you pick, since gating doesn't cost you anything if you were always going to buy the full plan anyway.
Isn't this just marketing framing?
Fair question, and the honest answer is: check for yourself. Every claim on this page is checkable against a live pricing page, ours and Pipedrive's, as of the date noted above. Pricing pages change. If you're reading this more than a few months after publication, verify the current tiers before taking either company's word for it, ours included.
